All I Ask - The Phantom
|
Hello everyone, I'm Anne. I thought since I joined this community, I should properly introduce myself. I'm 15, and I've been hooked on The Phantom of the Opera ever since I seen the 2004 version of it. (which by the way I went to see it 3 times in the theatre ^^) And after seeing it, it made me want to see and read other versions of the story. I have the 1925 version on DVD, and I've downloaded the 1945 version. Also, I have a bootleg of Paul Stanley of Kiss playing the Phantom in Webber's version on DVD (it was more of a comedy then anything, I've never laughed so hard in my life. Paul Stanley was the most HORRIBLE Phantom EVER.) I've finally got to read Gaston's novel. Best thing I've ever had the pleasure of reading. I literally started crying at the end. (Even though I knew the ending lol) I think the first thing that attracted me to PotO, was that when I went to see it, I was actually in a love triangle myself. Sadly, the outcome was about as lucky as poor Erik's ^^;;...But I never related to anything like that before. I felt Erik's pain, because I knew exactly what it was like to love a person to the extent that at first, you want to have them all to yourself, but then realize that its not you that they want. So then you try to hold on tighter, but in the end realize it was selfish, and let them go, dispite your utter heartache, and let them be with whom they want, because you love them so much that all you want is their happiness. Even if it denied you yours. Well, anyway, I'm done ranting about my undying love for this age old story. =)....Oh, and if any of you would like to add me to your friends list, please do, I need more friends! =D lol.
♥

Welcome! I'm Alley ^_^ I'll add you to my friends! One question: where did you download the bootleg of Phantom? Because I'm DIEING to try and find a stage version of Phantom(preferably the NY one) I know what you mean by wanting to see other version of Phantom. I saw the Broadway musical first... I fell in love> OBSESS with it! So the next format was the novel. Then the 1925 version.. then the 2004 movie(I didn't like very much...). Another book you might want to check out: Phantom by Susan Kay. Everyone is raving about it. I liked it very much myself.
Again, welcome! :]
Hiyas Alley! ^_^ And to answer your question; I bought the bootleg of Phantom off of Ebay, lol. I downloaded the 1945 version. Aside from Paul's horrible acting and singing, it was actually quite good ^_^. And as for Phantom by Susan Kay. I also heard it was quite good and have been wanting to read it for awhile. I've already read The Phantom of Manhattan by Frederick Forsyth. It wasnt as bad as some people said. I enjoyed it to a point anyway ^^.
Thanks for adding me! *adds you back*
I've heard of Phantom of Manhattan.. I personally wanna try and find a copy of Sherlock Holmes meets the Phantom of the Opera.. I saw that on amazon.com once.. It looked pretty cool XP
Oh! I've heard of that one too, I want to get it sooo badly. I mean, I want to who would out witt who ^_^. I think that it would be quite interesting indeed O.O. =D
I adore the 1925 film! Lon Chaney makes a wonderful Erik. And the 1945 version is entertaing, too. Claude Rains..hah, he was fantastic. Have you seen Hitchcock's Notorious? He's in it, fabulous film.
Anyways, welcome. I'll add yu, if you'd like.
I loved the 1925 film too! ^^ Lon Chaney is the man. Though the ending was a bit of a bummer, I loved how true it stayed to the book. =) And the 1945 version, even though it was not much like the original story, though, I did find the way that they presented it to be very good. And no, sadly, I have not seen Hitchcock's Notorious.
Thanks for making me feel welcome. ^_^ I'll add you =)
Ohh, welcome! Welcome!
You should definately scrounge your local library to read Phantom by Susan Kay. It is absolutely fantastic, and just makes you adore Erik even more for his quick wit and humor! I started off as a POTO maniac when I saw the 1925 silent film version several years ago. Then last year I skimmed through a magazine and saw they were making it into a movie. At first I was skeptical, but when I left the theater I was a teary-eyed mess. Now, here I am! lol
But, welcome! Welcome! Add me if you like. My journal is friends only, so just tell me if you want me to add you. :)
A tout a l'heure!
I think I shall be doing that. Ooor, going to my other resource of PotO books, amazon.com lol. I usually find that by the time I'm done reading it, its hard to let it go again ^_^; haha.
And yes, I would like to add you because, my journal too, is friends only.
Thanks for the welcome! ~^
